A Journey of Passion, Resilience, and Dreams

I was born on January 4th, 1985, in a small town called Teupasenti. A midwife delivered me at home, as the nearest health center was two hours away. I lived there until I was six, and then my family moved around Honduras. At seven, I started first grade in Tegucigalpa, but I returned to Teupasenti for second grade. After that, at age 8, we moved to Roatán. My father worked as a security guard at a hotel, and I began accompanying him, learning English early on. From ages 11 to 16, I sold hats on the beach. From 2000 to 2002, I worked as an underwater videographer at Anthony’s Key, doing underwater videos for people doing Dolphins Snorkeling in Roatan. We would sell those VHS Tapes to the tourists in Anthony’s Key Resort in early 2002. From 2002 to 2004, I served at the naval base in Honduras. I was 18 years old, and the next year, I met my wife, Ana Rosa Calero. May 11th, 2004, my wife Ana Rosa and I began our life together in Roatán. I worked at Paradise Computers, selling computer parts. In 2006, Ashley was born, and in 2008, I started working at Gumbalimba Park as a tour guide. That same year, my brother and I first dreamed of Let’s Go Roatan Tours, but it wasn’t until 2016 that I brought that dream to life. I initially tried selling tours face-to-face, but it didn’t take off. Then, I turned to Facebook, and that’s when everything changed. In 2020, during the COVID pandemic, there was a huge shift. Before COVID, we were growing steadily, but after the pandemic, everything changed. Today, our business brings visitors from all over the world to discover Roatán, and my personal journey is the foundation of this company. I invite you to join us and believe in a business built on a lifetime of passion, resilience, and love for this island. Born from a childhood dream and a lifelong passion for Roatán, Let’s Go Roatan Tours is a family-driven business built on resilience and love for this island. From my roots and family to the bustling shores of Roatán, every step of my journey has shaped the personalized tours we offer today. A Life Guided by the Spirit of Roatán

A Life Guided by the Spirit of Roatán For over three decades, my life has been deeply connected to the breathtaking island of Roatán. I was born in 1985, and from a very young age, I found myself drawn to the ocean, the lush hills, and the vibrant culture that make this island so special. What began as a childhood curiosity soon turned into a lifelong passion. As a young boy, I started exploring Roatan not just as a local but as a guide in the making. I learned every hidden beach, every scenic road, and every story that gives this island its soul. Those early experiences shaped who I am today. Now at 41, I am proud to continue this journey—not alone, but with my family by my side. My daughter, now 20, and my son, just 9, are growing up in the same way I did—surrounded by the beauty of Roatán and inspired by the joy of sharing it with others. Together, we run Let’s Go Roatán Tours, a family business built on love, dedication, and generations of experience. Over the years, we have had the privilege of guiding thousands of travelers from all around the world. Each tour we lead is more than just a service—it’s a personal experience. We share not only the island’s most beautiful places, but also its heart, its stories, and its spirit. Every time we take guests on an adventure, I’m reminded of the same sense of wonder I felt as a child. That feeling has never faded—and it’s exactly what we want every visitor to experience. If you’re ready to create unforgettable memories in Roatán, we invite you to join us. When you book with Let’s Go Roatán Tours, you’re not just choosing a tour—you’re becoming part of our family’s journey. The Story of Lets Go Roatan Tours: A Local Dream that Grew into an Island Favorite Lets Go Roatan Tours since 2016

The Story of Let’s Go Roatan Tours: A Local Dream that Grew into an Island Favorite In 2016, on the lush Caribbean island of Roatán, a local family with a passion for sharing their home decided to turn that love into something bigger. That’s how Let’s Go Roatan Tours was born — not as a corporate project, but as a family-owned dream built from the heart. It all started with a simple idea: “If we could show visitors the real Roatán — the one we know, with our beaches, animals, laughter, and island pride — they would fall in love with it too.” From the very beginning, the founders — Josue Elias Mejia, his close relatives, and a small team of local guides — focused on personal connections. Instead of rushing guests through crowded stops, they took time to introduce them to local life: sloths and monkeys at the animal sanctuary, Gumbalimba Park, fishermen at West End, and the calm turquoise waters of West Bay Beach. That personal touch quickly made a difference. Travelers began recommending them, one family at a time. 🌺 The People Behind the Smiles Every guide at Let’s Go Roatan Tours is from the island itself — people who grew up exploring these hills, reefs, and beaches. Josue and his team are known not just for their professionalism but for treating guests like family. Whether it’s helping someone hold a sloth for the first time, arranging a surprise birthday on the beach, or making sure guests catch the best sunset photo, the passion and care of the team shine through every tour. 🌞 What Guests Are Saying Over the years, hundreds of visitors have shared their experiences online, filling review pages with gratitude and joy. Here are just a few of their favorite words: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ “Our guide Josue went above and beyond! Holding a sloth was the highlight of my trip, and the monkeys were hilarious. But what I’ll remember most is how friendly and informative he was. Highly recommend Let’s Go Roatan Tours!” – Amanda B. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ “A fantastic family-run company. We felt safe, cared for, and welcomed from the moment we stepped off the cruise ship. You can tell they love their island and want you to love it too!” – Mark & Lisa, Texas ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ “One of the best excursions we’ve ever booked. Real locals, real culture, real fun.” – James R. These are more than reviews — they’re proof of what happens when authenticity meets adventure. 🚐 From a Small Dream to a Global Connection Today, Let’s Go Roatan Tours continues to grow, welcoming travelers from cruise ships and hotels across the island. Yet the spirit remains the same: local people sharing local life. Every tour helps support island families and small businesses — from souvenir shops to beachside cafés — keeping Roatán’s economy thriving while giving guests unforgettable experiences. 🌊 Join the Story — Let’s Go! If you’ve ever dreamed of meeting sloths, snorkeling in crystal-clear water, or seeing Roatán through the eyes of locals who genuinely love it, this is your invitation. Share this story. Tag your friends. And when you visit our island, say hello — we’ll be here, ready to show you the best of our paradise. ✨ Let’s Go Roatan Tours — Real Locals, Real Fun, Real Roatán. ✨ 📍 www.letsgoroatantours.com  Phone number +504 9964 2030 iMessages or WhatsApp Messenger

A pirate-themed cave (“Coxen’s Cave”) with replicas, artwork, maps, and history relating to pirates in the Bay Islands. Rope bridges, small lagoon/pond crossings, waterfalls, and scenic overlooks throughout the gardens and jungle. Activities & Extras Beach access, with a sandy shoreline, lounge chairs, and opportunities to swim. There is also a freshwater pool and a children’s pool. A canopy/zipline tour features multiple platforms and cable runs through the jungle canopy (13 zip lines, 17 platforms in some versions), offering views from above. Picnic/café options, restrooms/showers, shaded spots, and chances for photos with animals and nature. We will also have the oportunity of visiting a chocolate factory, a rum company and the Roatan sign for photos. The Roatan Chocolate Factory:   What you see & learn   How cacao beans are grown, harvested, and processed—from the raw bean to finished chocolate.   The roasting, grinding, and refining steps, including how they flavor the chocolate (e.g. with local fruits, nuts).   Workers in action: you’ll often see the machines and tools involved, small-batch production, workers molding, wrapping, etc. The Roatan Chocolate Factory   Tasting samples: you get to try different varieties (dark, milk, flavored) of organic Honduran chocolate.   Possibly a “make your own chocolate bar” component in some tours/classes. The Roatan Rum Company: What you see & learn at the Roatan Rum Company   You’ll arrive at a scenic location between West End and West Bay, often on high ground. From here, you can see both sides of Roatan and views of the Caribbean Sea. You’ll be offered free samples of their artisan rums, rum cakes, and sometimes cocktails. Learn about the aging process of rum: how base rum is placed in wooden barrels (used Bourbon barrels, American oak, sherry barrels etc.), and how time in those barrels imparts flavor. See how blending works: different aged rums are mixed, sometimes after different barrel treatments, to get the flavor profile just right. Discover how natural infusions are done: using local fruits, spices, and extracts, rum is infused over weeks to produce flavored rums. There’s a “Blendatorium” experience where you can create your own flavored rum using a choice of natural extracts and have your own personalized label for it. You’ll learn about rum cakes: how they are made (fresh ingredients like eggs, butter, milk, unrefined flour), how they’re infused with rum, how they’re glazed, sealed, etc. You see product displays—bottles of rum, souvenirs (glasses, hats, T-shirts, etc.), and items made with rum (like cigars or infused products). You’ll get a feel for local craftsmanship and flavor: not just tasting, but understanding how local climate, aging in tropical conditions, barrel types, and natural ingredients contribute to the rum’s character.
